Your Session

Each session is 45 minutes and will look a little different each time. Whether you know where to start or not, I can help guide you through it.

We will set goals and I will tailor a treatment plan integrating these different therapies just for you.

Art Therapy

 

Art therapy is a highly effective form of psychotherapy. Art Therapists are masters-level clinicians (like myself) and require state and national licensing in New York. Art therapy, facilitated by a licensed art therapist, has a multitude of benefits including strengthening interpersonal connections and personal growth. Creating art can cultivate intention, increase mindfulness and reduce anxiety. Art making can also assist to communicate non-verbally, bypassing the limitations of language. Some things simply cannot be put into words, BUT they can put into images! Art expression has been found to address many issues like depression, distress, grief, and low self-esteem.

If you do not have any experience with art or art therapy, no fear! It works. Plus, there is no wrong way to create art.

Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

 

DBT is an effective, empirically-based form of therapy. Skills learned in DBT can increase mindfulness, reduce self-judgment, increase tolerance for distressful situations, regulate emotions and improve interpersonal relationships. I offer DBT skill building, psycho-education, and experiential learning through art making and mindfulness exercises.
